The villainous Steppenwolf (played by Ciaran Hinds) arrives
on Earth to do evil things. This leads to Batman (played by Ben Affleck),
Wonder Woman (played by Gal Gadot), The Flash (played by Ezra Miller), Aquaman
(played by Jason Momoa), and Cyborg (played by Ray Fisher) coming together to
stop him. The actual Justice League works off each other really well. These
actors all demonstrate a good level of chemistry with one another. Admittedly,
there isn’t much of a plot beyond that. It does feel a bit refreshing to have
one of these movies actually be under two hours. On the other hand, it does feel
a bit rushed. As I said, there isn’t a ton in terms of plot. There also wasn’t
much in the way of character development. I’m not saying it wasn’t there at
all, but it felt somewhat thin. Cyborg, Aquaman, and the Flash probably had the
most development to it. I like that the Flash is still something of an amateur,
and hasn’t done a lot of battle yet. Cyborg is still learning about himself.
Aquaman has to go the surface because responsibility to stop Steppenwolf has
fallen to him. That’s pretty much the level of development the characters
receive. Steppenwolf as a villain is incredibly generic. I don’t remember what
his plan was beyond coming to earth. I don’t remember anything he actually
said. The action is pretty fun. A lot of critics said they thought this movie
felt incredibly disjointed (like you can tell it was directed by two different
people). I didn’t really see it, but if someone you did, I wouldn’t take that
away from you. Yes, I did enjoy Justice
League. I don’t think it’s free of problems by any means. The villain feels
weak, and the development feels thin. On the other hand, the action, the
acting, and the action is pretty damn entertaining.
